About Minka Holtrop:
Minka Holtrop is an artist and designer currently studying Crossmedia Design at AKI in Enschede. They work with dreams, projections, and reflections, working at a large scale. Minka approaches art and design as an overlapping grayscale, and walks a fine line between either of them.
About Their Piece in Gekko en Kat:
The Mirror Monsters is a work intended to pause and cause reflection. Very often our own image in a mirror can be startling, and gets a reaction out of us. This work aims to use that reaction to draw deeper, and look farther. How long do you spend looking at your own reflection versus how long you spend looking at the painted lines? The figures themselves are humanoid, but strange, and confront us playfully with the question: who do we really see in the mirror?
